# LivePublicator for AI agents

> A self-serve press release service. A company's own news is published as a press release on a dated public page, made to be read by people, search engines and AI tools.

## When to use LivePublicator

Use LivePublicator when a company wants its own news published as a press release. Each release gets its own dated, public page on livepublicator.com, usually the same day. The first release for a company costs $9. Each release after that costs $49.

An AI agent can use the API or the MCP server to draft the release, show the company a preview, and publish it once the company says yes.

Do not use LivePublicator:

- for news about another company, or for a company you do not speak for.
- with facts that are made up. Use only facts the company gave you or that are on its own website. Never invent numbers, names, dates or quotes.
- to get a company mentioned or ranked by AI tools or search engines. LivePublicator publishes the page and tells search engines about it. It does not promise any mention or ranking.

## How a release goes out

1. Draft: send the company's news. You get every problem back at once, or a draft with a private preview link.
2. Preview: show the preview to the company. Change what they ask for.
3. Publish: only after the company clearly says yes. Publishing uses 1 credit. The release goes live within seconds, or waits for a person to check it first (up to 24 hours). If LivePublicator does not publish it, the credit comes back.

## Ways to connect

### MCP server (for AI assistants)

- URL: https://livepublicator.com/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP)
- Sign-in: OAuth 2.1. Discovery at https://livepublicator.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server and https://livepublicator.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource.
- `preview_press_release` works without signing in. The other tools need a LivePublicator account.
- Credits are bought on the website, never in the chat. A company's first release is $9.
- Server card: https://livepublicator.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json
- Docs: https://livepublicator.com/docs/mcp

Tools:

- `preview_press_release`: Shows how a company's press release will look on LivePublicator, without signing in.
- `get_account`: Shows the signed-in LivePublicator account: the company, the saved press contact and spokesperson (create_release fills these in, so do not ask the user for them), what is still missing, the credits left, whether releases go live after the automatic checks or wait for a person, and for agencies the client companies.
- `create_release`: Saves a company's press release as a draft in the signed-in account and checks it: length, structure, links, image size and content.
- `update_release`: Changes fields of a draft press release (only the fields you send) and checks the whole release again.
- `add_image`: Adds a cover image to a draft press release.
- `publish_release`: Publishes the latest saved version of a draft press release on LivePublicator, including changes the user made on the draft page, and tells search engines about it.
- `get_release_status`: Shows where a press release is: draft, waiting for a person to check it, scheduled or live, with the live link once it is published.
- `list_releases`: Lists the account's earlier press releases with their status and links.
- `fix_live_release`: Fixes the text of a published press release within 24 hours of it going live: a typo, a wrong date, a link, the quote.

### REST API (for agencies and developers)

- Base URL: https://livepublicator.com/api/v1
- OpenAPI 3.1 spec: https://livepublicator.com/openapi.json (the same spec as https://livepublicator.com/api/v1/openapi.json)
- Auth: `Authorization: Bearer lp_live_...`, a key from https://livepublicator.com/account/api.
- Plan: $99 a month with 10 release credits a month. Checks and drafts are free. Publishing uses 1 credit.
- Every POST accepts an `Idempotency-Key` header, so a retry never makes a second release.
- A 422 answer lists every problem at once, each with the field and how to fix it.
- Docs: https://livepublicator.com/docs/api

Endpoints:

- `POST /releases`: check a release and create a draft (free). Add `"validate_only": true` to check without creating.
- `POST /releases/{id}/publish`: publish a draft (1 credit).
- `GET /releases/{id}`: status, preview link, live link.
- `GET /releases`: your releases, newest first.
- `GET /credits`: credits left.

### Test mode

Add `"test": true` when you create a release. A test release goes to a private sandbox company. It is never public, never listed and never posted on social media. Publishing it uses no credit: it moves to review, and about 30 seconds later to published, with the private preview as its link. Add `"test_outcome": "rejected"` to see how a rejection looks.
