How to optimize a press release for AI search (GEO)

To make a press release work in AI search, write the news in one plain sentence first, list the facts, answer the questions people ask, name who said what, and publish it on a fast, permanent page that search engines and AI crawlers can read. This is often called GEO, generative engine optimization.

1. Put the whole news in the first sentence

Who did what, and why it matters. If someone reads only that line, they should know the news.

2. List the key facts

Company name, what is new, date, place, price. One fact per line, written the same way you write them on your own site.

3. Answer three questions people ask

Who is it for? What does it cost? The doubtful customer's question. Short, direct answers.

4. Quote a real, named person

Full name and role. No "a spokesperson said".

5. Use the same facts everywhere

Your website, your profiles and the release should say the same thing. Mixed facts confuse people and machines alike.

6. Make the page easy to read for machines

Plain HTML text, not a PDF or an image. Schema.org data for the article, the company and the speaker. AI crawlers allowed in robots.txt.

7. Get it found the same day

Sitemaps, RSS and an IndexNow ping tell search engines the page exists. Keep the address permanent.

What not to do

  • Don't stuff keywords or repeat your brand name in every line.
  • Don't hide the news in a PDF, an image or a long story before the facts.
  • Don't believe anyone who promises AI will recommend you. Measure before and after instead.

How LivePublicator does it

Every LivePublicator release does all seven by default, and you can check each one on the live page. See the full list at /ai-ready.

Questions

What is GEO?

Generative engine optimization: making content easy for AI answer tools to find, read and quote.

Is GEO different from SEO?

It builds on it. Good SEO helps search engines find a page; GEO also makes the content easy to read and quote in an answer.

How do I know if it worked?

Ask the AI tools about your company before and after, with the same questions. LivePublicator sends these reports on day 0, 1, 7 and 30.
