AI cites company newsrooms about six times as often as wire copies, new data shows

AI cites company newsrooms about six times as often as wire copies: 347 newsroom citations against 57 for wire copies (Proofsource, October 2026)

New research shows that AI assistants cite companies' own newsroom pages far more often than wire copies of company news. In 18,858 answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, collected in October 2026, Proofsource found that pages in companies' own press, newsroom or investor sections were cited 347 times. Wire copies about the same companies were cited 57 times. That's about six to one. Wire pages of all kinds were 0.14% of the 201,185 citations in the sample.

Earlier research points the same way. In an analysis of about 4 million AI citations by BuzzStream and Citation Labs, press releases and newsroom content on company-owned domains made up 18% of ChatGPT's citations, against about 3% on Google's AI platforms. Syndicated press releases were 0.04% of all citations.

LivePublicator has offered a branded newsroom since launch, and this research shows why it matters. It puts every release on the company's own address, such as news.yourcompany.com, with the company's logo and colours. The copy on livepublicator.com points to the company's copy as the original, and the company is named as the publisher in the page's structured data.

"A LivePublicator release uses every tool we know of to help AI engines and agents index and understand company news, and it's catching on fast. Add a newsroom on the company's own domain, where this research shows AI looks most, and those releases work far harder."
Peter Chambers, Managing Director, LivePublicator

Each release in the newsroom keeps the features of every LivePublicator release: a one-line summary, key facts, a Q&A block, a named and approved quote, Schema.org data, a clean Markdown copy, and its own sitemap, RSS feed and IndexNow notice. On LivePublicator's 44-point AI-readiness check of one release per service, LivePublicator passes 44 and the best of the big wires passes 27.

These studies count citations. They don't measure the odds for any single release, and no one can promise that an AI assistant will cite a company. What they show is where AI tends to look for company news: the company's own site.

Setup takes two DNS records, and no developer is needed. Companies that have already published with LivePublicator can move their existing releases into their own newsroom. Companies new to LivePublicator can start with a release.

Questions about this announcement

What is a branded newsroom?

A news page on the company's own domain, such as news.yourcompany.com, hosted and run by LivePublicator. All of the company's releases appear there.

What does it cost?

$29 a month, or $79 a month with two releases included. The first month is $9 for companies that have published with LivePublicator before. While the newsroom is live, each release costs $39. Full prices are on the pricing page.

I already published with LivePublicator. Can I move my releases?

Yes. They appear in your newsroom, and the copies on livepublicator.com point to yours as the original.

Will a newsroom make AI assistants cite my news?

No one can promise that. The research shows AI assistants cite companies' own newsroom pages far more often than wire copies, and LivePublicator's day 1, 7 and 30 reports show what changes.
